Autumn Programme 2023

Indoor meetings begin at 7.30 pm in the Hall, Holy Trinity RC Church, Lichfield Road, Sutton Coldfield, unless otherwise stated. Outdoor meetings normally end by 4.30-5 pm, but finishing times and distances of outdoor meetings are approximate.

Please check with the Secretary or the Leader before attending an outdoor meeting, since these may have to be cancelled or changed. Please also feel free to contact the Secretary if you have any queries or have difficulty in getting to a meeting.

Thu, 14 Sep 2023 AGM (short) followed by "Moths and Sutton Park" by Richard Orton
Tue, 19 Sep 2023 Visit to Barr Beacon, including part of Beacon Way. Meet at 2pm in the first car parking available from the southern entrance to Barr Beacon at the junction of Bridle Lane and Beacon Road (OS map ref: ). An easy walk of about 2 miles. Leader: Peter Coxhead.

Sat, 14 Oct 2023 Visit to Dosthill Park Local Nature Reserve. Meet at 2pm in the car park in Blackwood Road, Dosthill – off A51 between Tamworth and Kingsbury (OS map ref: , post code B77 1JE). Dosthill Park LNR is adjacent to the River Tame, and includes wetland, meadow, hedgerows and trees. Leader: Peter Coxhead.
Thu, 9 Nov 2023 "Friends of Sutton Park from Past to Present" by Marian Baxter
Tue, 14 Nov 2023 Fungus Foray in Sutton Park. Meet at 2 pm at the end of the "Ash Path" – entering by the Streetly Gate, it's the rough track to the left just before the Arena Field (OS map ref: ). Leader: Peter Coxhead.
Fri, 17 Nov 2023 6 pm for 6:30 pm. Annual Dinner at the Country Kitchen, (in Moor Hall Drive, off Little Sutton Lane or Weeford Road, Sutton Coldfield). Cost per head £16. Members are welcome to bring a guest. Please book at the October meeting or as soon as possible afterwards so we know numbers.

Sat, 16 Dec 2023 Visit to the Sandwell Valley for winter birds. Meet at 11 am in the car park for the RSPB centre, off Tanhouse Avenue (OS map ref: , post code B43 5AG). Leader: Lilian Holmes.

There are no meetings in January; meetings will resume in February 2024. Dates for your diary:
